DR. NORA BINTI ABDUL AZIZ

Graduate of University College Dublin (National University Ireland) in 2005, she obtained Intercollegiate MRCS 2008 and completed Irish Basic Surgical Training (CCBST) in Royal College of Surgeons Ireland 2009. Upon returning to Malaysia, she completed Master of Surgery in University of Malaya 2013, whilst serving as trainee lecturer to University Malaya Medical Programme.  Upon appointment as specialist 2014, she continues as Consultant  General and Colorectal Surgeon and is an examiner for both undergraduate medical programme and Postgraduate Master of Surgery, National Conjoint Board Exams. She is also the Surgical Co-ordinator and Examiner for Dental Faculty, Universiti Malaya. She sub-specialised in Colorectal Surgery, training in UM, UKM and Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, Sydney and is currently the Head of Colorectal Surgery Unit, Department of Surgery UM. She is also Committee Member and National Trainer for National Colorectal Surgery Fellowship Programme. She is actively involved in national and international surgical training, where she serves as Co-Director of CCrISP Course with College of Surgeons Malaysia and Royal College of Sugeons England and is a NOTSS Course Instructor with Royal College Of Surgeons Edinburgh. She is the local UM liason for co-ordination of RCS England MRCS examinations. She has a keen interest in advanced colorectal cancer surgery including Pelvic Exenteration, Cytoreductive Surgery and HIPEC as well as PIPAC and is Malaysian representative in PelvEx Collaborative. She has helped set up and continue the multidisciplinary, multicentre teamwork for extended resections in advanced GI malignancy in Universiti Malaya and in the country.

ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. JULIANA BINTI USMAN

  Dr. Juliana Usman is an Associate Professor from the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Universiti Malaya. She is a member of the Centre for Applied Biomechanics, UM and the appointed secretary for the Malaysian Society of Biomechanics. She had served as the Head of the Biomedical Engineering Department in the Faculty of Engineering, Universiti Malaya from 2019 to 2021. She is a certified Chartered Engineer (CEng) from the Engineering Council of UK and a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology (UK) and the Board of Engineers (Malaysia). Her research areas are in Sports Biomechanics (Injury Prevention and Performance Enhancement) and in Biomechanics and Motion Analysis. Dr Juliana has been active in research and in obtaining research grants from internal and external resources with 10 grants as the Principal Investigator (PI) and 11 as co-PI totalling to about RM1.5M in research grants. Her research include researches on knee OA biomechanics analysis and intervention, biomechanical investigations on driving simulation including lower limb contributions, muscle fatigue during heavy traffic situation, various biomechanics analysis in sports ie. badminton, bowling, rugby, table tennis, sepak takraw, and also researches on shoulder injury analysis and prevention. Currently she is collaborating with OGAWA and GOODNITE  to investigate the effectiveness of massage chairs on multiple disorders and on sleep study and different mattress specifications. Due to her expertise she has been invited as keynote and invited speakers as well as forum panels at international and local conferences and as experts in various media platforms. She has completed supervision of 4 PhD and 7 Masters students, and currently supervising 4 PhD and 5 Masters candidates.

PROF. DR. GOH BOON TONG

Dr. Goh Boon Tong is a professor in the Department of Physics, Universiti Malaya, where currently serves as the Deputy Dean, Institute for Advanced Studies and the Deputy Head of the Low Dimensional Materials Research Center. He earned his PhD in 2012 with a thesis titled “Layer-by-Layer Plasma Enhanced Chemical Vapour Deposition of Nanocrystalline Silicon Thin Films”. His primary research interests focus on the synthesis and characterization of nanomaterials, including one-dimensional structures (nanowires, nanotubes, and nanorods), two-dimensional materials (graphene and metal carbides), and metallic nanoparticles. Dr. Goh has obtained numerous prestigious awards, both locally and internationally. These include the MASS 2001 Awards (Best Thesis Awards for Final Year Project of Undergraduate Science) from MASS Malaysia, the Excellence Award 2012 (for PhD candidates with the highest impact publications in the sciences) from the Universiti Malaya, the Newton Advanced Fellowship 2016, the Outstanding Researcher in Materials under the Science Discipline Award from the Venus International Foundation, the 2020 Top Research Scientists Malaysia (TRSM) Award from the Academy of Sciences Malaysia, as well as several conference awards. He has secured many local and international research grants and holds 6 filed patents. Dr. Goh also has been appointed to various academic and professional roles, including adjunct professor, visiting professor, visiting scientist, session chair at international conferences, editorial members and associate editors of journals, PhD thesis examiners by universities worldwide. To date, he has published over 235 peer-reviewed papers, with a total of nearly 3, 400 citations (h-index = 30) according to Google Scholar, and more than 156 refereed papers with nearly 2, 600 citations (h-index = 26) according to Publons Web of Science.
