Saedah Siraj is Professor of Curriculum Development at Faculty of Education, University of Malaya.  She has served as a lecturer for 37 years and the Dean of the Faculty of Education since 2009-2014, and founding Director of the University Malaya Centre for a Family Development which was established in 2003. She received her Ph.D degree in Curriculum and Instruction from University of Pittsburgh, in 1990.  Her research interests include future curriculum design, innovation of models and modules for mLearning curriculum, empirical methods in futures studies, instruction and learning quality, literacy education especially for indigenous group, and education for aging people. Saedah Siraj is the principal author of the books Kurikulum Masa Depan (Future Curriculum), Kajian Masa Depan dalam Pengembangan Kurikulum (Future Studies in Curriculum Development), Rekabentuk Kurikulum: Teori Praktis (Curriculum Design: Teory and Practice), Pendidikan Anak-anak (Children Education), Remaja dan Strategi Penyelesaian Masalah (Adolescent and Problem Solving Strategy), Design and Developmental Research: Emergent Trends in Educational Research. Chief Editor of the book of mLearning: A New Dimension of Curriculum Advancement, and Cognition and Learning: Issues and Strategies. She has published more than 150 articles locally and internationally. Professor Saedah Siraj is a pioneer in research studies and publications in mLearning in Asia beginning with the hosting and chairing of the international conference on mLearning in 2002.  She is also a pioneer in the application of Futures Studies in education.  She has successfully secured approval to establish a HUB for experts in Faculty of Education to facilitate research, development and expert services for the country. She has successfully produce more than 38 Phd graduate studends and secured a number of research grants both university and national level. She is now chairman of the Curriculum Association of Malaysia.  

Dr Reena Rajasuriar is a Clinical Pharmacist by training and an Associate Professor at the Department of Medicine, University Malaya (UM).  She also holds an adjunct position as a Fellow at the Department of Infectious Diseases, University of Melbourne, Australia.  She leads the research unit at the Department of Medicine, UM and is Head of the Immunotherapeutics Laboratory (ITL), a core immunology research laboratory at the Faculty of Medicine, UM.    Dr Rajasuriar completed her PhD in Immunogenetics at Monash University, Australia and now leads a translational research program in HIV and Aging at the Centre of Excellence for Research in AIDS (CERiA).  Her training as a clinical and basic scientist has afforded Dr Rajasuriar the expertise to perform multidisciplinary research spanning basic, clinical and implementation studies.  Her research focuses on understanding drivers of accelerated aging in people living with HIV and its interaction with functional aging outcomes.  She is also invested in understanding how integrated HIV care can best be implemented in resource limited settings to promote healthy aging.   Dr Rajasuriar has published extensively on the intersection of HIV and aging, and is an international leader in advancing the knowledge in this field, having delivered multiple plenaries at international forums, co-authored multiple opinion pieces and viewpoints as well as contributed to the development of consensus statements around this subject matter.  Together with members of her team, she was instrumental in developing the first ECHO training program on HIV and Aging for the Asia Pacific region to advance capacity building for health professionals providing care for people with HIV.  She is also the Principal Investigator of the only HIV and aging cohort in the Asia Pacific region studying aging from a multidimensional perspective, with over a decade of follow up (2014-2024).   Dr Rajasuriar’s work is funded by various national and international funding bodies including the National Institutes of Health, US, the American Foundation for AIDS Research and the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation, Malaysia.  She has received multiple accolades including the Australia-APEC Women in Research Fellowship (2015), the Loreal-UNESCO For Women in Science Malaysia Fellowship (2016), the IAS Research-for-Cure Academy Fellowship (2018), the CIRA International Visiting Fellowship to Yale (2019), the Asian Universities Alliance (AUA) Scholars Award (2023) and most recently, the Fulbright Malaysian Scholar Award (2024). 

Dr Chan is Professor of Medicine, Director of the Division of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Senior Consultant Gastroenterologist and Hepatologist at the University of Malaya, the University of Malaya Medical Centre and the University of Malaya Specialist Centre. He graduated with distinction from the University of Malaya in 2005 and obtained the Membership of the Royal Colleges of Physicians of the United Kingdom in 2008. He served at the Kuala Lumpur General Hospital at the beginning of his career and subsequently returned to his alma mater in 2010 where he completed his fellowship in Gastroenterology and Hepatology and actively contributed to clinical, research and educational work. He served as an Executive Committee Member for the Malaysian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (MSGH) between 2015 and 2021. He was the Scientific Co-Chair and a core member of the Organizing Committee for the Asian Pacific Digestive Week (APDW) 2021. He is a member of the Academy of Medicine Malaysia, the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of the Liver (APASL), the European Association for the Study of the Liver, the American Association for the Study of Liver Diseases, and the Hepatology Committee of the World Gastroenterology Organization. He is a member of the Global NASH Council, the Asian Pacific Association for the Study of Liver MAFLD Consortium, the Gut and Obesity in Asia Workgroup, and the CAP Prognosis Study Group. He completed two terms as Associate Editor for the Journal of Gastroenterology and Hepatology between 2018 and 2023, and is a current member of the Editorial Board for Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, Alimentary Pharmacology and Therapeutics, and Clinical and Molecular Hepatology. He is a regular reviewer for multiple international journals. He has published numerous full papers in peer-reviewed journals and presented in both local and international conferences, including the Annual Scientific Meeting of the MSGH, the Singapore Hepatology Conference, the International Digestive Disease Forum, the Annual Meeting of the APASL, and the APDW. His main area of research interest is metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease. As part of his PhD dissertation, he described the two-step approach in non-invasive assessment of liver fibrosis in non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD), which has now become the foundation for a simple assessment and referral pathway for the disease in national and international guidelines. He served with distinction as a Clinical Research Fellow in Hepatology at the Storr Liver Centre. He contributed to the section on NAFLD in the 6th Edition of the Clinical Practice Guidelines on the Management of Type 2 Diabetes Mellitus for Malaysia and was the lead author for the MSGH Consensus Statements on metabolic dysfunction-associated fatty liver disease (MAFLD). He is actively involved in NASH clinical trials and is in the Global Expert Panel for the ESSENCE study. Besides being an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal and liver diseases, he is passionate about diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic ultrasonography and endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography. He is involved in the training of fellows in Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Advanced Therapeutic Endoscopy, and teaches undergraduate and postgraduate medical students. He contributed to two chapters in the core undergraduate reference book for clinical examination, Talley & O’Connor’s Clinical Examination 9th edition, Southeast Asia Edition. He is a member of the Department of Medicine Higher Education Committee and is a regular reviewer for postgraduate research and grant proposals.
