BIOGRAPHY

SYAZWAN NAIM IBRAHIM is academic at Department of Arabic and Middle Eastern Languages, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia, and Managing Editor of the Department’s Al-Ḍād Journal. He attained his bachelor’s degree in Arabic Language and Linguistics from Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco in 2019 and was awarded as the best student at the university level. Subsequently, he pursued Master of Arts (Linguistics) at Universiti Malaya focusing on the pragmatic analyses of the Quran. His principal research interests reside in the field of pragmatics and translation.

He has taught many courses at the undergraduate programs and always interested in working on developing Arabic language mastery amongst students especially writing and speaking skills. He welcomes insights most notably from language service providers and other stakeholders in the translation industry to conduct respective research projects related to translation ethics and practices, translator training and discourse in translation as well as other aforementioned fields, by and large.

Furthermore, he is one of certified translators at the Institut Terjemahan & Buku Malaysia/Malaysian Institute of Translation & Books (ITBM) and has done great deal of translating, editing, and proofreading of theses, books, and articles. He also serves as a bureau of research, development, and publication of Al-Arabiyyah organization. He has produced Arabic articles for a monthly published renown national Islamic magazine of Malaysia named Solusi. He currently actives in contributing creative writing to a biannually published academic magazine called The Chronicles by Universiti Teknologi MARA Terengganu.
