Dr Syed Azharuddin is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Geology, Universiti Malaya. He is a geologist and paleoceanographer specialising in past climate and oceanographic reconstruction using marine micropaleontology, geochemistry, stable isotopes, and biomarkers. He received his PhD in Geology from Banaras Hindu University, India, in 2019, following doctoral research at the Birbal Sahni Institute of Palaeosciences. His research focuses on Asian monsoon variability, ocean temperature, upwelling, oxygenation, biogeochemical cycling, and climate-ocean interactions, with current interests extending to climate and environmental change in Southeast Asian marine and coastal systems.
