BIOGRAPHY

 

I completed my Pediatric Surgery training in 2008, graduating as the first Pediatric Surgeon, University of Malaya had ever produced. I then pursued Pediatric Urology as a sub-specialty, encompassing the care and management of patients with the entire spectrum of Pediatric Urological conditions. I did my Pediatric Urology sub-speciality training in Apollo Children's Hospital, Chennai, India under Dr Venkat Sripathi from 2008 till 2010. I currently serve as a Senior Lecturer in University Malaya (UM) and as a Senior Consultant Pediatric Urologist and Pediatric Surgeon in University of Malaya Medical Center (UMMC).

I actively contribute to the field of Pediatric Urology, with memberships in several professional International and National level bodies namely European Society for Pediatric Urology(ESPU), International Children’s Continence Society (i-c-c-s.org), European Association of Urologists(EAU), Indian Association of Pediatric Surgery(IAPS), Malaysian Medical Association (MMA) and Malaysian Association of Pediatric Surgery (MAPS). I am  also on the panel of consultants for the Spina Bifida Association of Malaysia (SIBIAM).

I have established Office Pediatric Urology services in UMMC. complete with office ultrasonography, uroflowmetry, uroflow-EMG incorporation of video urodynamics and Malaysia’s first Urotherapy service. I am the only Pediatric Urologist who is an integral part of a focused combined clinic for children with neurogenic bladder and bowel secondary to spina bifida alongside  pediatric neurology, pediatric nephrology and pediatric rehabilitation unit.

My areas of expertise include the care and management of cloacal exstrophy, disorders of sexual differentiation, bladder augmentation ileo-cystoplasties, creation of Mitrofanoff channel and bladder neck sling for neurogenic bladder patients. I have performed total uro-genital mobilization for complex persistent cloaca and correction of severe hypospadias, feminizing genitoplasties, pyelolithotomies for staghorn calculi, pyeloplasties for obstructed kidneys and radical nephrectomies for Wilms tumor.
