Professor Dr. Lip Yee Por is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. He is a Senior Member of IEEE and an established researcher in cybersecurity, machine learning, artificial intelligence, and intelligent healthcare technologies. His core areas of expertise include digital authentication, cryptography and cryptanalysis, information hiding, steganography, computer intrusion detection and prevention, machine learning, deep learning, support vector machines, explainable AI, blockchain, the Internet of Things, and the Internet of Medical Things. His current research focuses on the application of AI in smart and secure healthcare, particularly cancer detection, omics data analysis, cardiovascular digital twins, IoMT security, and blockchain-enabled protection of decentralized healthcare data.
He has authored approximately 150 Web of Science-indexed journal papers, including publications in SCI, SCIE, and SSCI-indexed journals, and has secured approximately RM 8 million in competitive research funding. His research contributions span both fundamental and applied domains, with impact across cybersecurity, AI-based medical diagnostics, intelligent systems, smart healthcare, and secure digital infrastructure.
Professor Por has received numerous national and international recognitions for his contributions to research, innovation, mentoring, teaching, and academic service. These include best paper and best oral presentation awards, invention medals, excellence service awards, and an Outstanding Mentor Award. He is also consistently recognized as one of the top-rated lecturers at the Faculty of Computer Science and Information Technology, Universiti Malaya.
Beyond research and teaching, Professor Por actively contributes to the academic community through editorial, advisory, and professional leadership roles. He serves as Associate Editor for Frontiers in Public Health, Frontiers in Computer Science, and the Malaysian Journal of Computer Science, and has served as Guest Editor for Applied Sciences. He is also an Editorial Board Member of CMC–Computers, Materials & Continua and a member of the Editorial Review Board of Technology in Cancer Research & Treatment, a SAGE journal.
He has held key leadership roles in national and international conferences, including Program Chair, Technical Chair, and Local Chair, and has served as an external academic assessor for academic programmes at TARUC, MMU, HELP, APU, and First City University College. To date, he has delivered more than 20 keynote and invited talks at national and international conferences, reflecting his active contribution to research leadership, academic quality assurance, and international scholarly engagement.
