BIOGRAPHY
Dr. Norhiwani Binti Mohd Hapipi is a Senior Lecturer at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. She graduated from the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, before beginning her academic career at the Centre for Foundation Studies in Science, Universiti Malaya. As a physics educator, she teaches foundation-level physics and is committed to helping students develop a strong understanding of fundamental scientific concepts.
With more than five years of research experience and three years of teaching experience, Dr. Norhiwani has established research collaborations with public universities and industry partners. Her research focuses on the fabrication and characterisation of advanced functional materials, particularly smart rubber, smart polymers, and hydrogels.
Her current research project investigates the utilisation of waste tyre rubber in developing magnetorheological elastomers—smart materials whose properties can be controlled using an external magnetic field. This research aims to transform waste tyres into value-added functional materials for potential applications in vibration isolation, sensors, and other smart technologies while supporting environmental sustainability and the circular economy.
