BIOGRAPHY


With a strong foundation in management and business from 2000 to 2007, followed by invaluable experience in the banking industry specializing in customer experience, Valerie embarked on a meaningful journey into the research ecosystem at Universiti Malaya in 2011. Starting as a secretariat for the High Impact Research initiative until 2015, she has since been entrusted with various strategic and administrative roles within the university research ecosystem.

Her journey continued as the coordinating officer for the Higher Institution Centres of Excellence (HICoE) and the administrator of Wisma R&D, where she gained extensive experience in research administration. Her direct involvement with the Research Cluster Office and close collaboration with the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) further honed her skill in supporting the execution of strategic research management.

Currently, Valerie is a part of the efforts in endowment and contributions at the UM Giving Centre, a vital division that forges impactful and sustainable partnerships between Universiti Malaya and both national and global donors. With deep commitment, she plays a role in ensuring that these contributions continue to support the university’s mission of excellence in teaching, research, and service, ultimately benefiting students and stakeholders while fostering knowledge advancement on a global scale.
