BIOGRAPHY


Makmor Tumin is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Economics and Administration and has been serving since 1997 at the University of Malaya. His expertise is in the field of Political Science, focusing on issues such as comparative political thoughts, civil society, and social policies. He has authored two books on political thoughts; Western Political and Economic Thought, and Fundamentals of Muslim Theology and Political Philosophy. He has also recently completed a book titled Survey of the Contemporary Western Political Philosophy. He is also the author of a book on civil society, titled Women in Malaysia: The Struggle for Rights. On social policy, he has published three books with other colleagues. These books concern the problem of organ shortage in Malaysia.

As part of his moral commitment (being a kidney patient who benefits from the country's healthcare system), he is involved with works in public health, in attempts of improving the organ donation rate in Malaysia. His works in this area have been published in many ISI journals, collaborating with experts such as those from the Faculty of Medicine and the Academy of Islamic Studies. Besides organ donation, he is also starting to involve in researches concerning the disabled group and is currently an Executive Board member of ASEAN University Network-Disability and Public Policy (AUN-DPPnet).

With eyesight that began to deteriorate at the age of 11, he enrolled in a blind school before studying at the University of Malaya. He is currently with an RG Score of 19.48 on ResearchGate and an h-index of 9 and 6 on Google Scholar and Publons respectively.
