My research engages with questions about the performances of identity, culture, and ethnicity within the discursive fields of Malaysian television and film. With twelve years as a Malaysian television content producer, my work has benefited from a closer insight into the institutional frameworks and processes of policy that modulate the nation’s televisual productions of meaning. As a social documentarian, I have photographed for the UNDP (United Nations Development Programme) and DANIDA (Danish International Development Agency) in Malaysia. I welcome research collaborators, postgraduate and research students who are keen on approaching a study of gender, culture, race, and identity as socially and politically constructed categories that are constituted and performed on screen media.
