BIOGRAPHY

I am a political theorist with 10+ years research, teaching, and management experience in the higher education and civil society sectors. I hold a PhD in Political Theory from the University of Essex, UK, and I am currently Senior Lecturer at the International Institute of Public Policy and Management (INPUMA), Universiti Malaya. Prior to joining INPUMA I was the CEO of The Centre, a KL-based public policy think tank, where I led a team of researchers to promote evidence-based, progressive, and pragmatic policy solutions to issues affecting the contemporary Malaysian society. I also previously worked as an academic in University of Nottingham Malaysia and International Islamic University Malaysia, serving as an Assistant Professor and in various administrative capacities. My scholarly interests include public policy in the areas of social cohesion, democracy and governance, social media regulation and higher education, critical and poststructuralist approaches in political theory, and the relationship between faith and politics. I have published widely on those and other political and public policy related topics in both academic and popular mediums, collaborated with local and international stakeholders to advocate for policy reform and societal change in Malaysia, and featured as an expert on various policy and current affairs issues in the media. I also currently serve as Associate Editor of Intellectual Discourse, a Scopus-indexed social science and humanities journal, and Book Review Editor of Asiatic, a Web of Science-indexed cultural studies and literature journal. I have also maintained an active presence in Malaysia's civil society spaces through my continued affiliation with The Centre, as its Managing Editor.
