BIOGRAPHY


Dr Juliana Othman is an Associate Professor at the Faculty of Education, University of Malaya. She has held administrative posts as Head, Dept of Language & Literacy Education (2015-2018) and Deputy Director of Centre for the Initiation of Talent and Industrial Training (2013). Dr Juliana has been involved in language education at various levels for the past 25 years. She was awarded the Fulbright Fellowship in 2006, studying bilingual education at University of Pennsylvania. She has also received numerous UM Excellent Service Awards (2017, 2010, 2008, 2007,2005, 2004, 2003).

She has headed several internal and external researches including those from Ministry of Education, University Malaya and University Science Malaysia. Her research focuses on socio-cognitive aspects of second language education, teacher education and professional development and bilingual education. Dr Juliana has authored and co-authored several books, articles and research reports on issues in teacher professional development, research methodology in language studies, second language pedagogy and content-based instruction.
