BIOGRAPHY


Dr. Noor Ismawati Jaafar is a Professor in Information Systems at the Department of Decision Science, Faculty of Business and Economics. She is currently holding the position of Director, Graduate School of Business. She was the Deputy Dean for Research for 4 years and Head of Department for MIS and Operations prior to the merger between the Faculty of Business and Accountancy and the Faculty of Economics and Administration. She obtained her highest academic qualification in Doctor of Business Administration (DBA), from Macquarie Graduate School of Management (MGSM), Macquarie University, Australia. She holds a professional qualification as Certified Financial Accountant (CFiA) from the Malaysian Institute of Certified Public Accountants (MICPA). She is also a member of the Association for Information Systems (AIS) an association which comprises of active academics and researchers in Information Systems. Having an accounting background and IT working experience in audit firm and large corporate organizations before joining the university, she now focuses on teaching core courses related to Information Systems. She lectures Accounting Information Systems (AIS) at undergraduate level and Management Information Systems (MIS) for postgraduates. In addition, she lectures Research Methodology course for postgraduates. She is responsible for nurturing young academic talents to become ethical researchers. Her efforts in contributing to human capital development has resulted in her successfully completed supervising nine (9) Doctoral students and twenty-seven (27) students at Master levels up to-date. There are several students at both Doctoral and Master levels who are still under her on-going supervision. She has so far led sixteen (16) research projects out of thirty four (34) with a total grant amount of approximately RM2.5million. In addition, she has been appointed as consultant and also led a few number of consultancies involving national projects such as the National Broadband Initiatives, Case Studies on COVID-19 Vaccination Roll-out Programme and the Economic Enhancement Programmes for MRT3. She has published in various refereed and indexed journals among others, Government Information Quarterly, Computers in Human Behavior, Behaviour and Information Technology, Industrial Data and Management Systems, Telematics and Informatics, International Journal of Mobile Communication, Internet Research, IEEE Access, Information and Management, PLOS One, Journal of Electronic Commerce Research, Information, Communication and Society, Social Science Computer Review, Computers and Education, Cyberpsychology, Behavior and Social Networking, and Management Decision. Her main research areas are IT governance, IT management, human computer interactions, and social media adoption. She is currently leading a research on IoT adoption focusing on security and privacy issues in public organisations. She has been appointed as Visiting Professors at various universities including Aoyama Business School, Japan, Universitas Diponegoro, Universitas Negeri Yogyakarta, Universitas Brawijaya, Universitas Negeri Malang, Indonesia and Prince of Songkla University, Trang, Thailand. She has been invited as guest lecturer, keynote speaker and presenter for symposiums and conferences held in Australia, China, India, Indonesia, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea and United Kingdom. She has also been appointed as mentor for the APRU Asia-Pacific Women in Leadership Mentoring Program (APWiL) representing Universiti Malaya. She aspires to achieve higher goals in her academic career in the university while embracing a more balanced lifestyle including making meaningful knowledge contribution to the society. She hopes to profess her views on societal impact of technologies in her quest of becoming a public intellectual.
