CURRICULUM VITAE
BIOGRAPHY
Dr Fatimah Zachariah Ali is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Biomedical Imaging, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya. She holds a BEng in Biomedical Engineering, an MRes in Medical Physics (Radiotherapy), and a PhD in Medical Physics, all completed at University College London (UCL). Her doctoral research developed high-resolution LA-ICP-MS (laser ablation-inductively coupled plasma mass spectrometry) imaging workflows to quantify drug micro-distribution in 3D tumour spheroid models for boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT).
Her current research interests centre on spatially resolved imaging as a connecting thread across three areas: elemental and molecular imaging techniques such as LA-ICP-MS and Raman spectroscopy; microplastics toxicology and how weathered plastic particles activate innate immune pathways; and quantitative nuclear medicine, particularly PET/SPECT imaging. She is especially interested in bridging analytical chemistry and environmental health research with translational, clinically relevant imaging applications.
