BIOGRAPHY


Md Faruk Abdullah is a senior lecturer at the Department of Shariah and Economics, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya (UM). Additionally, he holds the position of Adjunct Faculty at Guidance College in Texas, USA. Before joining UM, he was a senior lecturer at the School of Banking and Finance, Faculty of Business and Management, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin (UniSZA) for eight years.

He earned his PhD in 2016 from the University of Malaya, specialising in Islamic economics. In 2012, he completed the Chartered Islamic Finance Professional (CIFP) program at INCEIF University. His academic journey also includes obtaining a Bachelor's degree in Fiqh and Usul al-Fiqh (Islamic law and jurisprudence) in 2010 from the International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).

Md Faruk has proven proficiency in teaching Islamic finance, wealth management, Shariah, and Fiqh muamalat courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. His contributions extend to publishing numerous articles in Web of Science and SCOPUS-indexed journals.

His areas of specialisation encompass Shariah aspects of business and finance, product innovation in Islamic finance, Islamic social finance, and Islamic wealth management. Presently, he serves as the Associate Editor of the Journal of Nusantara Studies (JONUS), indexed in the Emerging Sources Citation Index. Additionally, he holds a research collaboration with the Accounting Research Institute (ARI) at Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) as an Associate Fellow.
