BIOGRAPHY


Wan Farahana Wan Hamid currently serves as the Manager at the Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, overseeing the overall administration of the Academy, including human resources, finance, visibility initiatives, accreditation and programme quality, and development.

Before this role, Wan Farahana was attached to the Academic Strategic Planning Centre (ASP Centre) from October 2018 to March 2024, where she managed learning analytics, including the analysis of programme progress, student and graduate performance, and other teaching and learning data at the university. She contributed significantly as the secretariat for the Review of New Tuition Fees across all programmes. Together with her team, she developed the Programme Sustainability Index for undergraduate programmes and formulated the Teaching Load Guidelines for academic staff at Universiti Malaya.

From February 2016 to September 2018, Wan Farahana was with the Institute of Postgraduate Studies (IPS), managing all matters related to registration, examination/assessment, and graduation of postgraduate candidates. 

Between October 2009 and February 2014, Wan Farahana served in the Human Resource Division, managing study leave and SLAB/SLAI matters for over four years. She contributed to policy refinement, proposed the establishment of the Study Leave and SLAB/SLAI Committee, chaired by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic & International), and streamlined agreement documents to enhance organisation and cost-effectiveness. Additionally, she worked hard with her team and the IT Department to develop online application systems for study extension requests, created the e-Progress Report system for candidate progress monitoring, and strengthened the Study Leave and SLAB/SLAI Module within the iHRIS system by integrating online application data.

From August 2002 to September 2009, Wan Farahana was with the Admissions & Records Section, Academic Division, managing student record administration and the registration and admission of undergraduate students for seven years. She was directly involved in developing the registration system for undergraduate candidates and represented the university in technical meetings for the development of the UPU Online system, which transitioned the application process from manual to online.

Throughout her career, Wan Farahana has demonstrated commitment, adaptability, and a results-oriented mindset in advancing administrative efficiency and digital transformation initiatives within Universiti Malaya.
