BIOGRAPHY


Dr Faizul graduated with a B.Eng and M.Eng in Mechanical Systems Engineering from Kitami Institute of Technology, Japan in 1999 and 2001, respectively. He received Yoneyama Rotary International Scholarship for his Master’s study. Later, he pursue his doctorate studies in the field of MEMS at Tohoku University with the scholarship from Hitachi Scholarship Foundation, Japan and obtained his PhD in 2009. He is a member of the Board of Engineers, Malaysia as a Professional Engineer (PEng), a member of The Institution of Mechanical Engineers, UK and a Chartered Engineer (CEng) with the Institution of Engineers, UK. He has been appointed a member of Young Scientists Network - Academy of Sciences Malaysia (YSN-ASM) for a period of 2015-2018. 

In terms of administrative and management position, Dr Faizul has served as a Residential College Principal at the University of Malaya in 2010-2013. He then become the head for the department of Mechanical Engineering from August 2016 to January 2019 and then the Deputy Dean (Research) at the faculty of Engineering from January to August 2019. He has also served several position such as conference secretary, conference treasury, and advisory committee for several international conferences. Currently he is holding a post as the President for Malaysia Thermoelectric Society (MTES). Prior to that, he was the Vice President (Research) of the society from 2017 to 2019.

His research interests are in thermoelectric materials and generators, lead-free solder alloys, and Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS). He has published over 180 scientific articles and filed 8 patents on the mentioned research topics. He is a reviewer for more than 40 peer reviewed journals and has served in a number of conferences as a technical committee member. He has also being invited as keynote speaker as well as invited speaker for several international conferences.
