DR. ELANNI BINTI MD AFFANDI

Senior Lecturer
  • Department of Geology
    Faculty of Science

BIOGRAPHY

Elanni received her PhD from Universiti Malaya in 2023, with a deep interest in geohazard assessment, disaster risk reduction, and urban geology. Her involvement in the international NUOF-funded project has allowed to sharpen her research skills and establish a robust network over the span of two years. Harnessing the power of geoscience, she create maps using GIS to empower stakeholders with critical insights for strategic land-use planning and hazard mitigation, ultimately protecting lives and infrastructure. Her work centers on urban geology, a field that delves into the intricate relationship between human development and the Earth's resources within urban environments, ensuring sustainable and resilient cities. As an academic, her objective is to cultivate a supportive learning environment by leveraging innovative teaching techniques to engage students and foster academic excellence through collaboration.
