CURRICULUM VITAE

DR. ZUBAIDAH BINTI YA'COB

(NA)
Dr. Zubaidah Ya’cob is a senior lecturer at TIDREC, Universiti Malaya, with expertise in One Health and public health entomology. Her research focuses on arthropod vectors such as ticks, chiggers, sandflies, and blackflies, and their roles in transmitting scrub typhus, rickettsioses, onchocerciasis, and leishmaniasis. She has published over 70 ISI-indexed articles and secured competitive grants from both national and international funders. Internationally, she leads projects supported by the Royal Society, BBSRC, and the International Science Partnership Fund (UK), while locally she investigates vector-parasite associations through FRGS and IRD France-funded projects. In 2025, she was appointed Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the Faculty of Infection and Microbiome, University of Liverpool, recognizing her global collaborations and research leadership. Her interdisciplinary work integrates field entomology, molecular diagnostics, and ecological data modeling. At Universiti Malaya, she teaches undergraduate and postgraduate courses in biology, statistics, and research methodology, and supervises PhD and Master’s students. Her mentorship promotes academic excellence and community relevance. She is also active in public outreach, especially among Orang Asli and B40 communities, raising awareness on vector-borne diseases. In 2023, she received the Universiti Malaya Excellence Award (ACUM) for her impactful community engagement and science communication.
