Dr. Zubaidah Ya’cob is a Senior Lecturer at the Tropical Infectious Diseases Research and Education Centre (TIDREC), Universiti Malaya, and an Honorary Senior Research Fellow at the University of Liverpool, United Kingdom. She specializes in medical and veterinary entomology and vector-borne disease ecology, focusing on public health vectors such as ticks, mosquitoes, sandflies, blackflies, and biting midges (Culicoides). Her research explores the population dynamics of dipteran vectors across changing tropical landscapes, examining how environmental shifts drive disease emergence. She has published nearly 80 ISI-indexed papers and secured multiple national and international research grants, including from The Royal Society (UK), BBSRC (UK), and the International Science Partnership Fund. Dr. Zubaidah is an international member of the research consortium on Onchocerciasis elimination in sub-Saharan Africa, collaborating with the University of Liverpool, University of Oxford, New England Biolabs (USA), and the University of Sheffield. Her work integrates field entomology, molecular diagnostics, and ecological modeling to advance One Health approaches. She also serves as Secretary of the Entomological Society of Malaysia (ENTOMA) and Academic Associate Member of PEKA, reflecting her leadership in entomological science and public health engagement.
