Professor Dr. Zurina Osman is a distinguished materials scientist specializing in energy materials, with a focus on polymer electrolytes and electrode materials for electrochemical devices such as rechargeable batteries, solar cells, and supercapacitors. She obtained her PhD from Universiti Malaya in 2003 and has built a strong academic career, progressing from lecturer to associate professor in 2008 and full professor in 2018. Her research focuses on the synthesis and advanced characterization of functional materials. She has extensive expertise in thermal analysis (DSC, TGA), electrochemical techniques (ionic conductivity, CV, LSV), and structural and spectroscopic methods (XRD, FTIR, UV-Vis, FESEM, BET, HRTEM). Her group also fabricates and tests electrochemical devices, including batteries, solar cells, and supercapacitors. Professor Zurina has published over 100 papers in high-impact journals, with more than 1,600 citations and an H-index of 20, reflecting her significant contribution to ionics and energy materials research. She has supervised more than 30 postgraduate students and presented extensively at international conferences. She has served in key leadership roles, including Head of the Department of Physics (2019–2021). Since 2018, she has led the Centre for Ionics Universiti Malaya (C.I.U.M.), strengthening major research initiatives and international collaborations in electrochemical energy technologies.
