Prof. ChM Dr Zamri Chik is Professor of Pharmacology at the Department of Pharmacology, Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya, and Director of the Universiti Malaya Research Centre for Biopharmaceuticals and Advanced Therapeutics (UBAT). He obtained his BSc in Chemistry and MSc in Pharmacokinetics from Universiti Malaya and subsequently completed his PhD in Clinical Pharmacology at the University of London, United Kingdom. He is a Fellow by the British Pharmacological Society (FBPhS). His principal expertise is in clinical pharmacology and pharmacokinetics, with extensive experience in the design and conduct of pharmacokinetic (PK), bioavailability (BA), and bioequivalence (BE) studies. His work also encompasses bioanalytical method development and validation, PK/PD evaluation, and the clinical translation of pharmaceutical and therapeutic products. He has been actively involved in supporting pharmaceutical development through collaborations with industry, including consultation on bioequivalence, clinical pharmacology, bioanalytical studies, and regulatory requirements. His research has expanded into advanced drug-delivery systems and nanomedicine, particularly targeted nanoparticle formulations for cancer therapy. His translational research focuses on bridging formulation development, preclinical evaluation, pharmacokinetics, and clinical development to facilitate the progression of promising therapeutics toward human studies and commercialization. Recently, he has broadened his research engagement into advanced and cell-based therapeutics, including mesenchymal stem cells, extracellular vesicles/exosomes, cancer immunotherapy, and patient-derived models.
