Professor Ir. Dr. Yau Yat Huang holds degrees from Wichita State University, University of Science Malaysia, and a PhD from the University of Canterbury, where he was a NZAID scholar. A Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) Carter Bronze Medal recipient (2013, 2015), he is an internationally recognized M&E Engineering expert with thirty years of practice. Professor Yau has published extensively in thermal science and mechanics journals. Stanford University lists him among the world's top 2% of scientists for career-long citation impact and multiple individual years. He is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering at the University of Malaya, leading the UM-Daikin and UM-JAF Laboratories. In 2024, he hosted a Fulbright Specialist, collaborating on indoor air quality in affordable housing. Former Associate Editor of the Journal of Indoor and Built Environment, he also served as Head of Department and Deputy Dean at the University of Malaya. A registered Professional Engineer in Malaysia and Australia, and with APEC and EMF recognition, he is a Fellow of IEM and IEAust, and a member of ASHRAE and US honor societies.
