Dr. Woo is an associate professor in the Faculty of Science at Universiti Malaya (UM), specializing in the design and development of functional materials, including batteries, supercapacitors, solar cells, plasma technology and radiation. He holds a B.Sc. (First Class Honours), M.Sc., and Ph.D. in Advanced Materials from UM. Before joining UM in 2014, Dr. Woo gained industry and research experience in the private sector and two Malaysian universities. With over 70 publications and more than 2500 citations, his research has been featured in top journals (Advanced Functional Materials, ACS Nano, Chemical Engineering Journal, Journal of Energy Chemistry), and he holds two patents. He has secured 22 research grants and collaborated internationally (AOARD, SATU), serving as a Visiting Professor at several universities. Dr. Woo has received numerous awards, including multiple gold medals at various innovation events (ITEX, MTE). He is an active member of the academic community, serving as treasurer of the Institute of Physics Malaysia, External Assessor for Physics Academic Program at private university and participating in organizing international conferences (ICFMD2024; Solar Asia 2013; APPC 2019, ICFPAM 2019, AAPPS-DPP2024).
