DR. NG WEI LEIK

Dr. Ng Wei Leik is a primary care physician and academic at Universiti Malaya with research interests in pharmacogenomics, digital health and medical education in primary care. His pharmacogenomics work focuses on HLA-B*58:01 screening to prevent severe adverse drug reactions in patients with gout, undertaken in collaboration with national health agencies to support implementation of genomic medicine in routine practice. He has contributed to digital health initiatives including COVID-19 and dengue symptom monitoring systems, clinical decision support tools for low back pain, and an international respiratory health project developing a mobile early-warning system using air quality forecasting to improve asthma control. His educational work includes development of virtual patient simulations, interactive web-based learning modules, and regional e-learning collaborations for primary care physicians in Malaysia and Singapore. Dr. Ng is a coordinator of the postgraduate Family Medicine training programme at Universiti Malaya, with roles in teaching, curriculum development, and assessment. He also serves as a research mentor with the Academy of Family Physicians of Malaysia.
