I am a Lecturer at the Department of Arabic Language and Middle Eastern Languages, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya (UM), Malaysia. I am now reading for a PhD in Interpreting Studies at Universiti Sains Malaysia. My doctoral research explores (im)politeness in Arabic-English simultaneous interpreting, focusing on how interpreters navigate strategic shifts under real-time cognitive constraints. This work sits at the intersection of pragmatics, interpreting studies, cognitive linguistics, and cognitive psychology. Prior to this, I completed an MA in Linguistics at UM, where I investigated Quranic implicature through a pragmatic lens. My academic foundation was laid at Cadi Ayyad University, Morocco, where I earned a BA in Arabic Language and Linguistics with distinction (comparable to summa cum laude) and was named Best Student in 2019. Beyond academia, I am a certified translator with the Institut Terjemahan & Buku Malaysia (ITBM), with experience in translating, editing, and proofreading theses, scholarly texts, and books. I am particularly interested in collaborations with language service providers and stakeholders to advance research on interpreter ethics, translator and interpreter training, and discourse in translation and interpreting.
