Teo was a recipient of the 2007–2012 SLAI Scholarship, which supported his education in the United States. He completed both his Master’s degree and Ph.D. at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. His research interests include sports testing and measurement, psychometrics, questionnaire development and validation, sport psychology, health and fitness, and wildlife conservation. He has been involved in sports research focusing on motivation, self-esteem, task and ego resilience, and sport commitment within Malaysian contexts. Teo previously served as the Coordinator for the Bachelor of Sport Management program from 2017 to 2021. He also served as the Coordinator of Social Engagement (Jalinan Masyarakat) and SULAM from 2016 to 2023. He currently serves as the faculty coordinator for the Internship Programme for the Bachelor of Sport Management program.
