DR. ONG TZE CHIN

Dr. Ong Tze Chin is an accomplished legal scholar, consultant, and former advocate and solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. Her areas of expertise include consumer protection law and competition law. Her career bridges rigorous academic research with international policy formulation, focusing on the intersection of consumer rights, e-commerce platforms, and digital market competition. Over more than 15 years in academia, she has established herself as a trusted advisor to government bodies and international development agencies.  She obtained her LLB (Hons) from the University of Northumbria, Newcastle Upon Tyne, United Kingdom. She was called to the UK Bar as a Barrister-at-Law by the Honourable Society of Gray’s Inn in 2005. Returning to Malaysia, she was admitted to the Malaysian Bar as an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya in 2007, practicing litigation before transitioning to academia. Upon securing a scholarship from the Ministry of Higher Education, Malaysia, she pursued her postgraduate research at the National University of Malaysia (Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, UKM), where she obtained both her Master of Laws (LLM) and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD). Her doctoral and postgraduate work focused on consumer protection law, contract law and the sale of goods.
