Professor Dr. Puteri Shafinaz Abdul Rahman is a molecular biologist and proteomic scientist who serves as Head of the Department of Molecular Medicine and Director of the Universiti Malaya Centre for Proteomic Research. She completed her PhD through a Split-Site Doctoral Scholarship from the Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Commission, with training at Nottingham Trent University and the Universiti Malaya. She has secured over RM 14.5 million in research funding as Principal Investigator and collaborator, and has supervised 8 PhD and 8 Master’s graduates, with several ongoing students. She previously led the Central Research Laboratories, the Faculty’s core research facility, for 15 years. Her administrative roles also include appointments under the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research & Innovation) portfolio, and she currently serves as a Board Director of the Malaysian Lactation Educators and Support Association. Her expertise spans comparative proteomics in cancer biomarker discovery, natural product bioactivity, and the molecular profiling of human milk as a biologically intelligent system shaped by evolution, lactation stage, and maternal–infant needs.
