Dr. Terence Ong Ing Wei is an Associate Professor and Consultant Physician in Geriatric Medicine at the Faculty of Medicine, Universiti Malaya and Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC). He completed his specialist training in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine in the United Kingdom, and holds a PhD in Rehabilitation and Ageing from the University of Nottingham. He is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians. His clinical and research interests include osteoporosis, sarcopenia, health service innovation, virtual wards, and Hospital-at-Home models of care. He has led and collaborated on multiple national and international research projects focusing on healthy ageing, musculoskeletal health, digital health innovation, and transitional care for older adults. Dr Ong currently leads the Virtual Ward service at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre, the first of its kind in the country. The Virtual Ward aims to provide hospital-level care in people's own home. He is an Associate Editor for Age and Ageing, and serves on the editorial board of BMC Geriatrics. Dr Ong holds committee positions in the Malaysian Society of Geriatric Medicine, Fragility Fracture Network Malaysia, Osteoporosis Awareness Society of KL and Selangor, Malaysian Osteoporosis Society, and the Selangor Public Health Advisory Council.
