Professor Dr. Syarida Hasnur Safii is a Professor and Consultant Periodontist at the Universiti Malaya, currently serving as Deputy Dean (Clinical Services), Faculty of Dentistry. She holds a PhD in Periodontology from the University of Otago, MClinDent from King’s College London, and Membership in Restorative Dentistry from The Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. Her expertise encompasses periodontology, implant dentistry, and dental education. Her research focuses on periodontal and peri-implant diseases, host–microbial interactions, adjunctive antimicrobial therapies, natural bioactive compounds in oral tissue repair, and the systemic links of periodontitis. She is also actively involved in educational innovation, particularly personalised learning and student-centred curriculum design. Professor Syarida has an extensive publication record in reputable international journals and has led multiple nationally funded research grants, including projects under Malaysia’s Fundamental Research Grant Scheme. She supervises PhD and Master’s candidates in clinical, translational, and education research, and contributes actively as an external examiner, journal associate editor, reviewer, and accreditation assessor. Her leadership integrates clinical excellence, impactful research, and academic governance, advancing periodontal practice and dental education at national and international levels.
