Dr. Ahmad Syafiq Amir Abdullah Zawawi is a Senior Lecturer in the Malay Linguistics Programme at the Academy of Malay Studies. He obtained his Ph.D. in Linguistics from The National University of Malaysia in 2024, specializing in Minimalist syntax, Malay linguistics, and corpus-based linguistic analysis. His research focuses on the syntactic structures of existential, possessive, and copular constructions in Malay, particularly within the framework of the Minimalist Program. He is actively involved in publishing scholarly articles in reputable indexed journals both in Malaysia and internationally, particularly in the areas of theoretical syntax, Malay linguistics, and Minimalist studies. In addition, he regularly presents linguistic research at national and international conferences, with a strong focus on theoretical and syntactic analyses of the Malay language. His academic work demonstrates a growing contribution to contemporary linguistic scholarship through rigorous theoretical inquiry, corpus-based analysis, and active engagement within regional and international academic communities. Prior to joining Universiti Malaya, he served under the Ministry of Education Malaysia for nearly a decade. He is actively involved in teaching, curriculum development, academic reviewing, and research supervision, while also contributing to national educational and linguistic development initiatives in Malaysia.
