CURRICULUM VITAE

DR. LIM SIEW HUAH

(PhD in Chemistry)
Dr. Lim Siew Huah is a Senior Lecturer in the Department of Chemistry at the University of Malaya (UM), specializing in Natural Products Chemistry and Bioorganic Chemistry. With extensive experience in teaching and curriculum development, she has taught both undergraduate and postgraduate courses in organic chemistry and molecular spectroscopy. She has also supervised numerous MSc and PhD students, as well as final-year undergraduate research projects, guiding them in the isolation, characterization, and structural elucidation of bioactive natural products. Her research primarily focuses on the isolation and spectroscopic characterization of alkaloids and other plant-derived secondary metabolites from Malaysian flora. She employs advanced techniques such as nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and chromatography to determine the structures of complex natural compounds. Her work extends to structural modification of natural products, aiming to explore their chemical properties and interactions for potential biomedical applications. Dr. Lim has previously served as the Undergraduate Program Coordinator for the B.Sc. Chemistry program, contributing to academic planning and program improvements. Her contributions to research and education continue to advance the understanding of natural products chemistry and its relevance to anti-cancer, skin brightening, and health-related applications.
