Choong Shaw Mei LLB (Hons) (Malaya), LLM (Malaya), and Advocate & Solicitor (non-practising) High Court of Malaya teaches Contract Law, Remedies as well as Legal Drafting at the Faculty of Law, University of Malaya. She was in law practice for about 7 years with experience in both litigation and non-litigation corporate & commercial law practice.  She then joined Malayan Banking Berhad as legal advisor in the Corporate Banking Division and then later became Head of the Legal Department. Her combined experience in practice and in-house in the commercial sector led to a deep interest in the Law of Contract and Remedies, and the importance of ensuring that the law keeps in step with commercial realities. She regularly gives seminars to legal firms and participates in law conferences on the latest developments in the law of contract and is a frequent contributor to the UM Law Review and the Malayan Law Journal with articles and commentaries on recent decisions here and in the UK. She co-wrote the Law of Contract in Malaysia (2nd Ed, Sweet & Maxwell), with Cheong May Fong and Yong Kai Jie which has just been published.
