Shahizat Amir was born in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He received the B.Sc. degree in Statistics from the Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, in 2002, and the M.Phil. and Ph.D. degrees in Applied Mathematics from the Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, in 2008 and 2013, respectively. In 2004, he joined the Center for Foundation Studies in Sciences, Universiti Malaya, as a tutor, and in 2013 became a lecturer. Since July 2022, he has been with the Institute of Mathematical Science, Universiti Malaya, where he developed further as a lecturer and researcher. His current research interests include Fractal Growth Modeling and Simulation (Fractals, Modeling, Simulation, Polymer materials). Dr. Shahizat is currently a Member of the Institut Statistik Malaysia (ISMy), and the Society of Biomolecular Imaging and Informatics (SBI2).
