Associate Professor Dr. Nor Shahila Mansor is a Malaysian scholar-translator and currently Head of the Department of Asian and European Languages, Faculty of Languages and Linguistics, Universiti Malaya. She holds a PhD in Spanish Language and Linguistics from the University of Valladolid, Spain. A linguist by training with native fluency in Spanish, her expertise spans multilingualism, sociolinguistics, communication strategies, and translation studies, with a strong focus on Spanish–Malay–English scholarship. Her research is anchored in the premise that language is never neutral. She examines how translation and linguistic framing shape power, identity, and public trust across contexts such as multilingual crime reporting, cross-cultural advertising between Malaysia and Spain, and geopolitical media narratives. Methodologically rigorous, her work integrates corpus analysis, qualitative approaches, and digital tools, consistently linking theory to societal impact. She is widely recognised for advancing Spanish as a foreign language in Malaysia through curriculum innovation, translation training, and intercultural communication initiatives. Her publications and forthcoming books reflect a sustained commitment to strengthening multilingual competence in Southeast Asia. Her research aligns with national and global priorities, including sustainability, gender equity, and inclusive access to information.
