Associate Professor Dr. Selamat Amir is an Associate Professor at the Department of Al-Quran and Al-Hadith, Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. He possesses extensive expertise and experience in the fields of Quranic exegesis (tafsir) studies, Quran and Science, scientific and cosmic exegesis (Tafsir 'Ilmi / Tafsir Kawniyyah), contemporary issues in Quranic exegesis, Orientalist studies in Quranic exegesis, Quranic studies in the media, principles of exegesis (usul tafsir), methodologies of Quranic commentators (manhaj mufassirin), and the inimitability of the Quran (i'jaz al-Quran). His background encompasses teaching, research, high-impact publication, and supervision at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. He holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree from the Academy of Islamic Studies, Universiti Malaya, specializing in Tafsir and Quranic Studies. His expertise and experience are further highlighted by his active involvement in the field of research and academic writing when he has published 14 books, 21 book chapters, 30 journal articles, 12 proceedings papers, 170 other publications (including mass media publications) and presented research at 27 international conferences.
