Dr. Chan Soo Chin is a Rehabilitation Medicine specialist and lecturer at the Universiti Malaya. She earned her medical degree in 2007 and completed her postgraduate training in Rehabilitation Medicine at the Universiti Malaya. Prior to joining academia, she served in various hospitals under the Ministry of Health Malaysia. Her clinical and academic expertise spans neuromedical, musculoskeletal, and pulmonary rehabilitation, with a particular interest in advancing services for individuals with chronic respiratory diseases. Dr. Chan is currently pursuing a PhD in Global Health at the University of Edinburgh. Her research focuses on mapping and strengthening pulmonary rehabilitation services across Asia, especially in low- and middle-income countries. She has been invited by the World Health Organization (WHO) to serve as an expert panel member for the development of the rehabilitation framework for Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). Dr. Chan also collaborates with international partners from Bangladesh, India, Malaysia, Pakistan and the United Kingdom in efforts to improve access and equity in pulmonary rehabilitation services. She is an active member of the International Society of Physical and Rehabilitation Medicine (ISPRM) and previously held the role of Treasurer for the Malaysian Association of Rehabilitation Physicians (MARP).
