Sarinder is an Associate Professor at Universiti Malaya and Adjunct Professor at Kings University College, Malaysia. Her expertise spans in data science, bioinformatics, health informatics and database systems with over 150 publications. She holds a PhD in Bioinformatics and degrees in Computer Science from Universiti Malaya. Her research focuses on AI-driven health data ecosystems, COVID-19 genomics, cancer informatics, EMR workflow analytics and medical databases. She collaborates with international institutions, including University of Cambridge and University of Saskatchewan and leads numerous international-level research projects. She has supervised over 30 postgraduates. She also consults on data analytics and machine learning projects, including with Ministry of Health Malaysia and Sigma Teguh Sdn Bhd. She serves as Treasurer of Asia Pacific Bioinformatics Network and sits on editorial boards of BMC Bioinformatics and BMC Medical Informatics. A multiple award recipient, Sarinder is also active in STEM outreach and women's empowerment, bridging academia, policy and community through data-driven innovations. She is currently involved in a Healthcare Data Safe Haven project under UM’s AI in Medicine Initiative, and as a coordinator for analytics with JPP, she provides data-driven insights using customised R and Python tools.
