Assoc. Prof. Sr Dr. Saipol Bari Abd Karim is a distinguished academic, researcher and registered Consultant Quantity Surveyor with extensive expertise in project, risk and value management across academia, construction and infrastructure industries. He holds a PhD in Business Administration (Project Management) and an MSc in Management of Projects from the University of Manchester, UK, and a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying (Hons) from Universiti Malaya. Currently Director of the Alumni Engagement Centre (2026–present), he previously served as Deputy Dean (2023–2026), Head of Quantity Surveying (2019–2021) and Master of Project Management Programme Coordinator (2016–2019). His distinctions include the PAQS Academic Excellence Award (2026), Universiti Malaya's Excellence Service Awards (2019, 2024) and Certificate of Excellence Award (2017). A former Board Member of BQSM (2021–2023) and Chair of its Quantity Surveying Accreditation Council, he is a Fellow of RISM and IVMM, contributing to national professional standards, accreditation and value management guidelines. His industry experience spans Gamuda, Dialog Group and multinational energy and infrastructure projects. His publications include Fundamentals and Practices of Value Engineering/Value Management (2024) and Project Risk Management: Principles and Procedures (2020). He also contributed to establishing UM's internationally accredited Master of Project Management programme. His career bridges academic leadership, professional practice, industry governance and national capacity development.
