Rozie Sarip, originally from Shah Alam, Selangor, earned her Bachelor of Science (BSc) in 2004 and Master of Science (MSc) in 2007 from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). She completed her PhD in Inorganic Chemistry at University College London in 2012, working with Dr. Graeme Hogarth FRSC and Prof. Gopinathan Sankar FRSC. Rozie began her career at SIRIM Bhd. as an Associate Researcher in 2006 and later became a Research Officer at the Institute for Medical Research (IMR) in Kuala Lumpur. After her PhD, she returned to IMR for a year before joining the University of Malaya (UM) as a lecturer in 2014. She is a member of the Royal Society of Chemistry and the Institut Kimia Malaysia. Her research focuses on binuclear and cluster chemistry, homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis, and the synthesis of phosphines, diphosphines, and thiazoline derivatives. Rozie’s group studies transition metal chemistry, emphasizing new complex synthesis and nanomaterials for applications in drug delivery and anti-cancer treatments. They collaborate with various local and international partners and have successfully synthesized small gold nanoparticles from gold-phosphine clusters, exploring the properties of large clusters in relation to nanoparticles.
