ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. ROZALINA BINTI ZAKARIA

PhD
Rozalina Zakaria is distinguished academic at PRC. She earned her PhD in Physics (University of Hull, United Kingdom 2010) and has established research profile in light–matter interactions, encompassing laser ablation, noble metallic and two-dimensional (2D) materials, nonlinear optical phenomena and advanced photonic applications. Her work includes plasmonic optical fiber sensors, optoelectronic devices and solar-related photonic technologies. She secured significant funding and supervised numerous MSc/PhD students graduated. Her academic service includes teaching and quality management in the Physics Department. She has published over 200 refereed international journals achieving an h-index of 31. Her collaboration demonstrated through appointments as Visiting Scientist at KAUST (2016) and NUS (2012), AUA awards at the University of Indonesia (2018) and UAEU  (2020) and as Research Associate at ImeN, UKM and UniMAP (2024–2026). She received an Honorable Mention in the Senior Scientist Category of the U.S.–ASEAN Science Prize for Women 2025 and was recognized as a Top 2% World Scientist by Stanford University (2024–2025). Actively engaged in national and international collaborations, she examined over 100 postgraduate. Her continued research excellence and leadership reinforce the University of Malaya’s global standing in photonics research.
