ASSOCIATE PROF. DR. ROSHIDAH BINTI HASSAN

Roshidah Hassan is a  French Senior Lecturer at the Department of Asian Languages and  currently holding a post as Deputy Dean (Undergraduate) at the Faculty of Languages and Linguistics. Prior to this appointment, she was the Head of Department Asian and European Languages. She received her Bachelor Degree in Malay Studies (Linguistics), University Malaya (1994),  Diploma in French Studies (2000), University of La Rochelle, France, Master in Teaching of French as a Foreign Language (2003) from University of Poitiers, France and PhD (UM) in 2010 .  She specializes in phonetics and phonology and language acquisition. She teaches phonetics and phonology, morphology and syntax of French. Her research areas include phonetics and phonology, ethnolinguistics and language acquisition. Her current research is focused on the acquisition of French sounds by the Malaysian students and the documentation of the Orang Asli languages. She is also involved in research related to preservation of the Malacca Portuguese Creole
