Associate Professor Dr. Phan Chia Wei is an Associate Professor in the Department of Pharmaceutical Life Sciences, Faculty of Pharmacy, Universiti Malaya, Malaysia. His interdisciplinary research spans pharmaceutical microbiology, medicinal mushrooms, natural products, functional foods, neuroscience, precision medicine, and translational health. His research focuses on the discovery and development of bioactive compounds from natural sources, particularly medicinal mushrooms, for applications in healthy ageing, neuroprotection, immunomodulation, cardiovascular health, and metabolic diseases. His work integrates molecular and cellular biology, pharmacology, functional food development, and clinical translation, while also extending into health research ethics and clinical trial methodology to facilitate responsible innovation in healthcare. To date, Dr. Phan has secured and participated in research grants exceeding RM1 million from national, international, industry, and community engagement funding agencies. He has authored more than 60 peer-reviewed journal articles, books, and book chapters, and serves on the Editorial Board of the International Journal of Medicinal Mushrooms. His research has resulted in several patents and intellectual property filings and has fostered collaborations with academic institutions, healthcare organisations, and industry partners across Malaysia and internationally. Dr. Phan has received numerous recognitions for his contributions to research, teaching, and academic leadership, including the Universiti Malaya Best Senior Lecturer (Science Category) Award (2025) and the Universiti Malaya Excellent Service Award (2024). He is also a recipient of prestigious international fellowships
