Born in Kapit, Sarawak. School education in Malaysia and Singapore. Married to Ann, 2 children, Hong Seng and Sze Ping. Spent 1982 to 1999 in the United Kingdom from A levels (Leighton Park School, Reading), medical degree (University College London), postgraduate specialist qualifications (MRCOG, CST O&G) and subspecialty training (Fetal Medicine attachment with Prof CH Rodeck, University College Hospital London and Clinical Research Fellowship in Fetal Medicine, Royal Free Hospital Medical School, London). Elevated to Fellowship of the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, UK in 2009. Serving in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya since 2000. Appointed Professor and Senior Consultant in 2008. Special interest in feto-maternal medicine and high risk obstetrics. Research interests in the use of ultrasound, optimisation of labour induction, external cephalic version,  hyperemesis gravidarum, infections in pregnancy and gestational diabetes with ongoing work. Research assiisrance abnd grants from Ministry of Higher Education, Ministry of Science and Technology, industry and University of Malaya. Active in the peer review of articles submitted for journal publication. Teaching at undergraduate, postgraduate and subspecialty levels. Regular invitations to address conferences and peer review research articles. Has supervised many clinical master students to completion with many students co-authoring  multiple articles from their in-course research collaboration. Awarded inaugural University of Malaya Vice Chancellor\\\\\\\'s Prolific Author Award (ISI cited journals) in 2007. Winner (2nd Prize) Singapore Medical Journal Best Article Award 2008, Singapore Medical Journal Reviewing with Distinction  Award 2008 and honourable mention for the John J Sciarra Best Article Award (International Journal of Gynaecology and Obstetrics) in 2008 and 2009.
