Norita Hussein graduated with a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) from the University of Malaya in 1995. Until 2005, she has worked in various specialities in the hospital as well as primary care clinics in two major hospitals, Kuala Lumpur Hospital and University Malaya Medical Centre (University Hospital then). During this period, she obtained master’s degree in Family Medicine, Malaysia. In Dec 2004, she was appointed an Academic Lecturer and Family Medicine Specialist in the Department of Primary Care Medicine and remains till now. During her career, she was awarded Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 2016 for her work on "Preconception assessment of genetic risk in primary care”. As a primary care physician and lecturer, she has been responsible in the provision of definitive care to patients at primary care level, ensure continuity of care and comprehensiveness of patients’ wellbeing especially with chronic medical illnesses. She is greatly involved in development of effective strategy to improve the primary care practice. She is responsible in the supervision of candidate undergoing PhD and Master Degree in Family Medicine; in the coordination and supervision of a 4-year training of postgraduate students for Master of Family Medicine degree in which she was appointed as the coordinator for the Year 2 and 3 postgraduate
