Norhaslina Hassan teaches at the University of Malaya since 1994, after completing her PhD in the field of regional economic planning.  She received her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the U.S. specializing in urban and regional planning. Currently she is attached to the Geography Department of the Faculty of Arts and Social Science. Professor Dr. Norhaslina Hassan is presently pursuing her research interests in urban issues such as poverty, economic and sustainable development planning. Her most recent study is on Low Carbon Cities Framework and Assessment System. She has written widely on these subject matters; beside numerous book chapters and journal articles, her publications include books entitled Pembangunan Mampan Pelancongan Maritim di Pantai Timur Semenanjung Malaysia/Sustainable Development of of Marine Tourism in the East Coast of Peninsular Malaysia (2017), City Innovation Systems: Case Studies of Urban Innovations in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia (2014) and Sustainable Urban Development Issues in Malaysia (2009).
