PROF. DR. NAZIRAH BINTI HASNAN

Professor Dr. Nazirah Hasnan is a distinguished pioneer in Rehabilitation Medicine in Malaysia, recognised for her steadfast commitment to advancing patient-centred care, innovation, and academic excellence. Her expertise in spinal cord injury rehabilitation, functional electrical stimulation, exercise for special populations, and assistive technology has significantly enhanced outcomes and quality of life for individuals with disabilities. As a faculty member at Universiti Malaya, she serves as a Consultant Rehabilitation Physician at Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC), contributing actively to teaching, research, and the development of future healthcare professionals. At UMMC, she has held key leadership roles including Head of Department, Deputy Director, and Director (2020–2025), where she led transformative efforts to strengthen institutional resilience, clinical excellence, and governance in a rapidly evolving healthcare landscape. A strong advocate for digital and sustainable healthcare, Professor Nazirah has championed the integration of electronic medical records, telehealth, and AI-enabled clinical workflows to enhance patient safety, continuity of care, and operational efficiency. She remains actively engaged in national and international professional communities and serves as a medical advisor to patient support and advocacy organisations, reflecting her enduring commitment to holistic, patient-centred care.
