Dr. Mumtaz Aini Alivi is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Media and Communication Studies, Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences. Her research focuses on Journalism, Broadcasting, News, Online Media, Political Communication, and Mass Communication. With 22 years of experience in the media industry, Dr. Mumtaz worked at Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM), primarily in the News and Current Affairs Department, where she served as a Broadcast Journalist, Newscaster, News Editor, and News Producer. She covered major national and international events, including assignments with the Prime Minister and national leaders. After earning her PhD, she transitioned to managerial roles at RTM, serving as Assistant Director in Policy and Research, Strategic Planning, and Quality Control for Creative Content. Her dedication to journalism earned her the Best Broadcast Journalist Award in 2001. Beyond RTM, Dr. Mumtaz has been actively involved in consultancy work, serving as a panel judge for the Malaysian Journalism Award (MPI) and as a panelist for Pitching Evaluation and Program Screening at RTM. Her extensive industry and academic expertise continue to shape the field of media and communication.
