Mohd Edil Abd Sukor is an Associate Professor in the Department of Finance, Faculty of Business and Economics, Universiti Malaya, where he has served since 2004. He holds a PhD in Finance from the University of Melbourne, Australia, an MBA in Finance from the International Islamic University Malaysia, and a Bachelor’s degree in Shariah from Universiti Malaya, where he received the Best Student Award from the Academy of Islamic Studies in 2003. He previously served as Deputy Dean (Student Affairs) and Coordinator of the Bachelor of Finance programme. His international academic engagements include appointments as Visiting Fellow (2018–2019) and Academic Visitor (2026) at the Oxford Centre for Islamic Studies, United Kingdom, as well as Visiting Professor at UIN Sultan Syarif Kasim Riau and Adjunct Professor at Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia. He has also maintained academic connections with the University of Melbourne through its alumni mentoring programmes and has contributed to academic engagements and assessment activities across several countries. His research interests encompass Islamic finance, financial management, consumer finance and financial markets, with particular emphasis on bridging Shariah principles and contemporary financial practices. He has published extensively in indexed international journals and participated in 25 research grants with total funding exceeding RM1 million, serving as Principal Investigator for 11 projects. His research also addresses financial inclusion, financial well-being, governance and sustainable development.
