Dr Mohammad Taqiuddin bin Mohamad is a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Shariah and Economics, Academy of Islamic Studies, University of Malaya. He holds a distinguished academic background, having earned multiple postgraduate qualifications: a Master's degree in Shariah and Economics [B.Sh (Syariah)] in 2006, a Master of Economics [MEc] from the National University of Malaysia in 2007, and a Master of Shariah [MSh] from the University of Malaya in 2009. He later obtained his PhD in Islamic Banking from the University of Malaya in 2012. Dr Taqiuddin has held several notable appointments throughout his career. He served as the Advisory Fellow Secretary to the Kedah State Zakat Board (2018–2023) and was the Head of the Department of Shariah and Economics at the University of Malaya (2019–2020). He was also a member of the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Scholarship Interview Panel under the Public Service Department of Malaysia (2017), and served as the Academic Advisor to the Faculty of Management and Muamalah, Kolej Universiti Islam Perlis (2018–2019). Furthermore, he contributed as a member of the Committee of Strategic Consultants for Islamic Affairs at the Advanced Institute of Medicine and Dentistry, Universiti Sains Malaysia (2021–2022). An active scholar, Dr Taqiuddin has authored and co-authored numerous book chapters, academic articles, and journal publications. His research contributions and seminar presentations focus primarily on the fields of Islamic banking, Islamic economics, and the integration of Shariah principles within contemporary financial systems.
